Frequently Asked Questions
Need Marine Ply Test Sheets?
Marine plywood is bonded with 100% unextended phenol-formaldehyde (BWP) adhesive that can withstand boiling water for 72+ hours without delamination. It also uses higher-grade hardwood veneers with zero core voids, whereas normal commercial plywood uses urea-formaldehyde (MR) glue meant for dry interior spaces.
Yes. The phenolic adhesive bond is 100% waterproof and will not deteriorate under water or moisture. However, for outdoor or marine exposure, proper surface coatings (marine varnishes, epoxy, or laminates) should be applied to protect the wood grain from long-term solar UV weathering.
It is the recommended material for under-sink kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanity units, sauna and steam-adjacent cabinetry, laundry rooms, and covered patio decking where plumbing leaks or persistent humidity would warp standard plywood.
18mm is the standard gauge for cabinet carcasses, vanity structures, and heavy shelving. For lighter drawer bottoms or curved paneling, 6mm or 9mm is used, while 25mm is preferred for heavy-duty marine decks and worktops.
Yes. All our marine plywood sheets undergo pressure-vacuum preservative treatment during manufacturing, rendering the plies completely toxic to termites, borers, and micro-fungal attacks.
