Frequently Asked Questions
Require Marine Decking Bundles?
Genuine Burma Teak (Tectona Grandis) from Myanmar is harvested from old-growth tropical forests with tight, uniform annual rings and maximum natural oil saturation. Plantation teak grows much faster in artificial groves, resulting in wider growth rings, lower oil content, lighter color, and significantly reduced weather and marine durability.
Quarter-sawn (vertical grain) boards have annual rings oriented perpendicular to the face (60° to 90°). This orientation eliminates radial expansion, preventing caulked seams from splitting or planks from crowning when exposed to scorching sun and saltwater.
If left unfinished outdoors, teak naturally patinas into a dignified silver-grey hue without losing structural integrity. To preserve its golden honey tone, apply specialized marine teak oil or penetrating sealers every 6 to 12 months.
